The Apryl Residence

So now that I am at college, I am living in a dorm for my first year. After living in the dorm... I have already made up my mind to move off campus next year. I really hate my neighbors and their incessant shrieking, and between you and I... I'm a hermit. Anyways, while perusing Pinterest.com I have been coming across very simple ideas of home decor that I feel in love with. I admit that my home will be very odd... but it's the oddities in life that make me happy. So, that's that. Anyways, here are a couple.

Who honestly would not want light bulbs hanging around their home with flowers inside. Two of my favorite things... in one. Flowers and, well I guess light bulbs aren't one of my favorite things, but they very well may become one. This would be so cheap to do. I've pretty much made up my mind that this will be my greenery while living in an apartment. Low maintenance, and frankly, awesome.

So this idea branches from my sister's innovative nature. Her name is Teralyn and she has great DIY's over at her blog Bit Of Byrd. She has old luggage as her side tables. Anyways, old luggage is possibly the most useful makeshift item. I like the vintage look and it is really practical at the same time. I'm not really fond of the pastels but I'm sure I'm more likely to come across a brown suitcase over a pretty pink one. Thank God. You could find luggage at seriously any garage sale. The sellers don't appreciate the gem they're throwing away that's for sure.

I really have no reason for it, but I love birdcages. I actually already own a few. Something about them I just really like and I feel they can be put to practical use. A couple uses I've come up with so far is a place to hang all my jewelry off of. The square cages I think would be really cool makeshift bookcases. Obviously you would have to find one with a wider/higher door. There are a ton to choose from. Ross surprisingly has a billion. A really... I think they are just cool decoration.

Welcome to my happy home.
