Straw Dogs

So my friend and I have been waiting for this movie to come out for about a month now and we finally saw it the day it was released, September 16th. All I have to say is... Wow. I'm not really sure what to say about the movie really. A girl that saw it with us didn't care for it because it wasn't as much of a horror as she was expecting.

SPOILER ALERT. I warned you.

But if you're a girl, this movie is pretty terrifying. One of my worst fears is being raped and the main character, Amy (Kate Bosworth), experienced this from a old lover, then literally seconds afterwards... from his friend. I honestly thought I would throw up while watching. Another really sensitive subject to me is mentally handicapped are abused. Like Radio, I was so torn by that movie. Anyways, there is similar circumstances in Straw Dogs that really just had my stomach aching.
This was a true, real like horror movie. No, not like Paranormal Activity or Saw, but actual things that every day people are scared of. This movie had me is the weirdest mood. I need to go watch a happy movie now.

Here is the website for the movie with the trailer, etc if you're interested. Straw Dogs: The Movie

  2. What made you want to go and see it? For reals. I just read the movie spoiler short story and NOTHING about it sounds remotely like something I'd watch. Just the imagery reading about the movie made me feel ugh. Was it a good trailer - sexy boys?

  3. In the few trailers I saw it really seemed like it would be similar to "Strangers" but it really was nothing like it. I liked it, it was just not what I was expecting. It was difficult to sit through but it kind of had this odd hold on me. I don't know, when it comes to redbox I would say rent it just to say you did. See for yourself.

  4. Noooo. I do happy. And weird. Or you know - Star Trek. ;) Can't do real life scary. I empathize too much. If the actor remotely looks like someone I have ever known I picture it as them. And then I can't bring myself to sit there and be entertained by watching that person I know get raped/killed/gutted/sliced/whatever. Yes, I know I'm crazy, but apparently not enough to warrant complete lock down. :)
