Light And The Way It Shines
And today, the way it shone made for conversation. Not necessarily good conversation, but talking, which is strange. Strangers talking in a nonchalant manner as they move past each other with no purpose other than a friendly gesture. This behavior once was overlooked as it wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but today it is something far above and beyond one's average day to day sincerity. Something about the light today made them lapse back to a different time. It made them comment and shyly smile while revisiting their voice. Ask about the other and listen when they responded. Maybe their words were in a pattern, but it was a casket that had not be opened in a very long time, so the listener was forgiving. The light was good and they were mechanic, mechanic but alive. For a single moment one of them thought about a time similar to this one, years ago. They thought for a moment to try to remember that tiny memory. It was close, very close to breaking through and becoming clear... but it remained dull. It was pushed down, and they continued walking in opposite directions. It was too faint of a memory to dwell on more. Their note of the light was nice and quaint and short, and now it was over. And as they moved different ways both placed their plastic in their ears and were suddenly closed.
