Obviously I am not quite done living life, and I am quite thankful for that. Most would say I haven't really begun yet, but there are a few things, both serious and silly, life has taught me.1. Call everyone. Don't text, but call people in your family, your friends, just everyone. How nice is it to receive a hello phone call. Growing up I did an awful job of keeping in contact with my family and now that I am a tad older I do my best to actually call my grandparents, call my mom, etc. A phone call holds even more value in this world where voice is lost.
2. Sing. Sing a lot and very loud. This falls in the silly and serious category for the reason that it is a bit goofy, but I honestly, wholeheartedly believe that singing puts you in a better mood. When I work I am constantly beebopping around singing. All day. So sing a ton and be happy.
3. Write and Record: AKA Journal. It may sound cheesy but how cool will it be to look back when you are on a rocker (or off the rocker for some) and read about your college years. Or read about how you were feeling during pregnancy. I think a record of your life would be such a prized and personal possession. Personally, it just makes me feel better to write things out as well.
4. Drink coffee: I got in a better mood just typing that out. White teeth are not worth it if coffee has to be out of the equation.
5. Say Hi: Get on an elevator, say hi. Sit down besides someone is a classroom... say hi. Near somebody in a coffee shop? Say hi for Christ's sake. How are you doing? It is such a simple concept and if everyone just did it once a day can you imagine how happier this world would be?
6. Always buy lemonade: We were all there, on the street during the summer selling cups of lemonade for 50 cents a cup. I made a vow to myself to never pass by a lemonade stand without buying a cup from the little entrepreneurs. Funny Story Moment: I was dating a guy at one time (hard to believe, eh?) and I forced him to stop so we could buy some lemonade. Well at the bottom of his glass was a pleasant clump of mystery snot? I'm really not sure what it was but the lemonade Gods blessed me with a fresh, delightful cup for being a faithful buyer. So, if anything that can be your reason.
7. Tip: I say this not only because I am a waitress myself (soon to be bartender! yahoo!) but because it is just simply nice! When I receive a good tip at work I have come close to tears of joy, literally. This also encourages me to tip well when I go out. No matter my financial circumstances (which are decently shitty to be frank) I will just always tip good. Make someone's day.
8. Smile
Really like and agree with number 2 & 3 :)
ReplyDeleteI love all of them and they are great things to have learned. I will have to make sure to always buy lemonade.
